Veselin Vačkov is a senior Czech media executive with over 25 years of experience as a journalist and media manager. He is currently the director of the oldest Czech quality broadsheet, LIDOVE NOVINY, and its news site LIDOVKY.CZ. He is also a member of the Supervisory Board of the Czech Publishers’ Association. Previously, he served for nine years as the paper’s editor-in-chief. He started his journalistic career as a foreign correspondent and business reporter.

Veselin has first-hand experience with the digital transformation of legacy media and building integrated multimedia operations. He has in-depth knowledge of the trends that are transforming the industry and a proven command of business planning and media management.

Since 2014, he has worked with The Thomson Foundation as a consultant, providing training and mentoring to editorial and management teams of media organizations in EU Eastern Neighbourhood countries (Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Belarus), the Western Balkans, Bulgaria, and Hungary.
