Info Sud-Est case study
Meet Info Sud-Est (ISE), a Romanian media outlet that has become a leading voice in local journalism through impactful analyses, reports, and investigations. Founded in 2012, ISE has consistently driven significant community changes with a team of six dedicated professionals.
In 2022, ISE made a notable contribution to cultural preservation by launching Heritage Constanța, the county’s first digital archive of historical monuments. This initiative underscores their commitment to safeguarding cultural heritage while fostering the growth of investigative journalism. Additionally, ISE organised seminars on investigative journalism and opened its newsroom to young, inexperienced students, demonstrating its dedication to nurturing the next generation of journalists.
Starting their mentorship journey, their idea was to increase community engagement, focusing on educational content about EU elections through discussing disinformation and fake news, producing multimedia content, and developing their TikTok and Instagram platforms – primarily targeting younger audiences.

The mentorship process was marked by regular communication and progress monitoring, which helped improve project management, communication skills, and overall organisation within the team. The mentor’s efforts and the work with the WeHub team, also led to a significant shift in the team’s mindset, fostering a more creative and collaborative work environment.
On my side, our weekly meetings were an excellent way to keep track of the project and get valuable external feedback on our activities and how they are shaping up. Getting regular feedback on our social media strategies and video creation methods was also very nice.
Gabriel Maatescu, Info Sud-Est journalist
Working with the team brought the management to understand that they should give more creative freedom to the younger members, and undeserving team members on social media could be beneficial.
I especially appreciated Miloš’s advice regarding the part of the projects I had to do – mainly regarding video production. Everyone in the WeHub team, including Maja, Vladimira, and Norbert, provided precious advice for some of our videos during the project.”
Delia Dascălu, Info Sud-Est intern.
The dedicated work paid off, with Info Sud-Est achieving an 87.5% increase in website visits within just a few months. They also produced various journalistic articles and developed 14 multimedia pieces for their digital platforms, marking a successful outcome of their mentorship process.
