Open to young and mid-career journalists from the Western Balkans

Thomson Media, as part of the EU-funded project Strengthening Quality News and Independent Journalism, is inviting young and mid-career journalists from the Western Balkans to apply for two new online workshops focused on Storytelling in Journalism and Financial Reporting.

These interactive sessions will help participants sharpen their practical skills and deepen their understanding of effective reporting in today’s media landscape.

The Storytelling in Journalism workshop will take place on 27 June and 4 July 2025, starting at 10:00 CET. It will be held online via Zoom and consists of two sessions, each lasting up to four hours. The working language is English. 

Similarly, the Financial Reporting workshop is scheduled for 30 June and 7 July 2025, also starting at 10:00 CET on Zoom, with two sessions of up to four hours each, conducted in English.

Each workshop is limited to 20 participants. Good command of spoken and written English is required.

Eligibility & Requirements

To apply, participants must complete at least two e-learning courses on the Journalism Now platform before the workshops begin:

For Storytelling workshop:

 Mandatory course: “News Writing: The Art of Storytelling”

 Register / Sign in for the BCSM, Albanian, and Macedonian versions on the links.

For Financial Reporting workshop:

  Mandatory course: “Financial Literacy”

You can choose one additional e-course from the following optional list to meet the two-course requirement:

  • Mobile Journalism: An Introductory Course

All courses are free, self-paced, and take under two hours to complete. Certificates are provided after successful completion.

You may apply for one or both workshops, depending on your interest and e-course completion.
