Radio Titograd, a multiplatform outlet based in Montenegrin capital Podogorica, last year marked its fifth anniversary. On 13 July 2016, around 7 pm, the radio started broadcasting for the first time. The outlet, besides radio, is also present on the internet. Božo Bulatović, executive director of Radio Titograd, vividly remembers that day.
“We started our program with a song from the legendary Miladin Šobić,” said Bulatović adding that since its beginnings Radio Titograd is acknowledged as a professional outlet aiming at upholding quality music. The program is broadcasted on 101,1 Mhz and covers the towns of Podgorica, Danilovgrad, Spuž, and Cetinje.
Through the Media for All, a UK Government founded project delivered by the British Council in partnership with BIRN, INTRAC and Thomson Foundation, Radio Titograd got completely new website, introduced new content - a video podcast, and focused on more sustainable business model.
“Our analytics shows that we have continuous readership/listeners in 34 countries. This is huge success for a small outlet. Also, another key feature of our new website is the fact that for the first time is fully accessible for the people with visual impairment,” said Bulatović adding that “the number of visits, due to the new website, tripled - from 12.000 visitors to 40.000.”
Also, the visits/likes/subscribes on social media channels are in constant rise. Namely, Facebook page, Instagram, and YouTube channel mark significant increase. In the same time, motivated by the latest successes, Radio Titograd can be also found on Twitter.
Thanks to all internal and external improvements – new staff, capacity building trainings in different areas, new website - Radio Titograd managed to increase its incomes becoming more sustainable. They mainly generate incomes from three sources - radio production, production services for different clients, and through portal adds which is a quite new revenue stream.
