Thomson Media invites journalists and media professionals from the Western Balkans to apply for a free online training on Multimedia and Data Visualisation, organised within the EU-funded project Strengthening Quality News and Investigative Journalism in the Western Balkans and Türkiye II.

This capacity-building training is the final in the project’s series and will help participants develop practical skills for producing engaging, data-informed multimedia stories. Through interactive sessions, participants will learn how to use visual storytelling techniques to make complex information more accessible and impactful, covering everything from choosing the right visual formats to creating charts, maps, and infographics suitable for digital platforms.

The training will be held online via Zoom over two sessions:

  • Saturday, 8 November 2025 – 10:00 to 14:00 CET
  • Saturday, 15 November 2025 – 10:00 to 14:00 CET

Each session includes short presentations, hands-on exercises, and discussions. Participants are expected to attend both sessions.

The call is open to young and mid-career journalists from the Western Balkans working in print, broadcast, online, or multimedia outlets, as well as freelancers interested in digital storytelling and data journalism.

Applicants should have a good command of English and a strong motivation to learn new tools for multimedia reporting.

The training will be led by Kristina Ozimec, an experienced communication specialist and media trainer known for her work in multimedia storytelling, mobile journalism, and data-driven reporting across the Western Balkans.

Participation is free of charge, but the number of participants is limited.

Interested applicants should complete the ONLINE APPLICATION FORM by 4 November 2025 (23:59 CET).

Only selected participants will be contacted with further details and Zoom access information.
